"And what we students of history always learn is that the human being is a very complicated contraption and that they are not good or bad but are good and bad and the good comes out of the bad and the bad out of the good, and the devil take the hindmost." -Robert Penn Warren, All the Kings Men

About Me

Hi all,

I am currently a graduate assistant in the History department at Clemson University. In the Spring of 2015 I graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in History and a minor in English. Though pretty much any historical topic will grab my attention, my primary interest is the 19th century American South, and its history of slavery and emancipation. I also welcome any discussion of Ernest Hemingway, E.L. Doctorow, Wes Anderson, Indie Rock, and the Blues--the music that is. I keep a blog (entitled, and perhaps wrongly so, The History Review Blog), a link to which can be found at the bottom of the page. I don't post much, but you (whoever you are) should atleast check it out. I've also posted links to a couple of articles I wrote as an undergraduate for HistoryisNow.com, formerly ItsHistoryPodcasts.com. They are fun and fairly narrative but impactful nonetheless.
